10 Steps to a Successful Cookie Training
- Provide name tags and a sign-in sheet. Refreshments are also a nice touch.
- Share the troop’s plans and goals and explain how they fit into the council’s objectives.
- Introduce ABC’s cookie materials and explain how they can be used to have a successful sale.
- Review troop proceeds and your council’s girl recognition program (if applicable).
- Describe each Girl Scout Cookie. You can use the Order Card to show girls what each variety look like.
- Announce important dates to remember, procedures for picking up cookies and handling money, and who to call for help.
- Emphasize the importance of safe selling.
- Hand out order cards and other forms.
- Answer questions and let girls and their parents/guardians know who to contact during the sale if they think of more questions later.
- Thank everyone for coming!
TIP: Ask those parents with lots of cookie experience to help with snacks or games. People with assigned tasks are much less likely to be no-shows.
TIP: Busy parents and volunteers are increasingly impatient with demands on their precious time. Send them a formal invitation! Easily create your own invitations from the Stationery section of the clip art gallery. A formal invitation will help ensure that your message gets noticed. |
